BASEBALL (Bob Whalen, Head Coach - 282-291, 15 yrs) 25-17, 15-5 Ivy (1st in Rolfe Division)

Won the Red Rolfe Division before falling to Princeton in the Ivy playoff series. Ed Lucas Õ04 was named the Ivy Player of the Year and Stephen Perry Õ07 earned Ivy Rookie of the Year honors. Overall, 10 Big Green players earned a spot on an All-Ivy team.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (Dave Faucher, Head Coach - 136-208, 13 yrs) 3-25, 1-13 Ivy (8th)

Leon Pattman Õ07 was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, while Mike McLaren Õ05 earned Academic All-Ivy honors. Following the season, Dave Faucher resigned and Colorado assistant Terry Dunn was named to replace him.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (Chris Wielgus, Head Coach - 260-189, 19 yrs) 15-12, 8-6 Ivy (4th)

Elise Morrison Õ07 was tabbed the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Jeannie Cullen earned second team All-Ivy honors and Angie Soriaga Õ06 received honorable mention recognition. At the annual Blue Sky Restaurant Classic, the Big Green upset national power Kansas in the opening round.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY (Barry Harwick '77, Head Coach - 12 yrs) 4th at Heps

Jarrod Shoemaker Õ04 finished sixth at Heps to earn first team All-Ivy honors, while Kevin Arnold Õ05 placed eighth at Heps to garner second team recognition.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY (Maribel Sanchez Souther '96, Interim Coach - 1 yr) 3rd at Heps

Melanie Schorr Õ06 finished eighth at Heps to earn second team All-Ivy honors. She also qualified for the NCAA championship where she placed 144th out of 252 runners. Kristen Ettensohn Õ05 and Betsy Burke Õ06 also garnered second team All-Ivy recognition by finishing 10th and 14th respectively at Heps.

EQUESTRIAN (Sally Batton, Head Coach - 13 yrs) 3rd at Ivy Show

The team finished third at the Ivy League Show and three Big Green riders won blue ribbons, including Elyssa Gelman Õ06 in intermediate fences, Tim Malone Õ07 in open fences and Abby Donahue Õ06 in novice fences.

FIELD HOCKEY (Amy Fowler, Head Coach - 43-30, 4 yrs) 6-11, 3-4 Ivy (5th)

Rebekka Stucker Õ04 earned first team All-Ivy honors and six players were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad. The Big Green finished the season strong, winning six of its final seven games.

FOOTBALL (John Lyons, Head Coach - 59-59-1, 12 yrs) 5-5, 4-3 Ivy (2nd-tie)

The team finished strong by winning five of its final six games. Casey Cramer '04 played in the East-West Shrine Game and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jay Barnard Õ04 became the schoolÕs all-time leading receiver and earned first team All-Ivy honors. Ryan Conger Õ05 was also a first team All-Ivy pick.

MEN'S GOLF (Jason Calhoun, Head Coach - 3 yrs) 7th at Ivy Championship

Kenan Yount Õ06 tied for 11th at the Ivy championship and Matt Uretsky Õ07 tied for 16th. Jeremiah Daly Õ04 was an Academic All-Ivy honoree.

WOMEN'S GOLF (Kevin Gibson, Head Coach - 7 yrs) 4th at Ivy Championship

Shannon Rogers 10th place finish at the Ivy League Championship led Dartmouth. Kathy Birchall Õ04 finished 17th and Hayley Stevens Õ07 was tied for 20th as Dartmouth finished fourth as a team. Birchall earned Academic All-Ivy honors.

MEN'S HOCKEY (Bob Gaudet '81, Head Coach - 94-98-30, 7 yrs) 14-11-9, 10-5-7 ECAC (4th-tie)

The team posted a winning record for the fourth consecutive season and defeated RPI in the ECAC playoffs before falling to Harvard in the ECAC semifinals. Lee Stempniak Õ05 was a first team All-America, first team All-ECAC and first team All-Ivy selection.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY (Mark Hudak, Head Coach - 24-8-2, 1 yr) 24-8-2, 14-3-1 ECAC (3rd)

The team won the Ivy title and advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four for the third time in four seasons. Katie Weatherston Õ06 was a New England All-Star and earned second team All-Ivy recognition along with Gillian Apps Õ06, Sarah Clark Õ04 and Louise Pietrangelo Õ04.

MEN'S LACROSSE (Bill Wilson, Head Coach - 8-5, 1 yr) 8-5, 3-3 Ivy (3rd)

Ben Grinnell Õ05 and Patrick Keeley Õ05 earned first team All-Ivy honors. Both also earned a spot on the All-New England first team with Jamie Coffin Õ06. The team posted a five-game winning streak early in the season and closed the campaign with a win over Harvard to finish tied for third in the Ivy League.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE (Amy Patton, Head Coach - 133-55, 12 yrs) 11-6, 6-1 Ivy (2nd)

The team defeated UNH in the first round of the NCAA tournament before falling to No. 1 Princeton in the quarterfinals. Lana Smith Õ04, Rowan Smith Õ04 and Devon Wills Õ06 were all named first team All-Ivy.

MEN'S ROWING (Heavies - Scott Armstrong, 13 yrs; Lights - Dick Grossman, 29 yrs)

Peter Noteboom Õ05 was an Academic All-Ivy selection in heavyweight crew and John Hertzer Õ04 was an honoree in lightweight crew. The heavyweight varsity eight finished sixth at the IRA regatta.

WOMEN'S ROWING (Molly McHugh, Head Coach - 3 yrs)

Anna Sjogren Õ06 was named first team All-New England and Jackie Chamberlain Õ04, Erica Finsness Õ04, Gretchen Gehrke Õ05 and Julia Saraidaridis Õ05 were named National Scholar Athletes.

SAILING (Brian Doyle, Head Coach - 10 yrs)

Dartmouth teams combined for second place in the Fowle Trophy standings, finishing fifth at the ICSA WomenÕs National Championship, third at the ICSA Ronstan Team Racing National Championship and fifth at the ICSA Gill Co-ed National Championship. Scott Hogan Õ04 was the runner-up for the Everett B. Morris Trophy College Sailor of the Year award.

SKIING (Ruff Patterson, Cami Cardenali, Peter Dodge and Christine Booker, Coaches)

The team finished eighth of 22 squads at the NCAA championship. Courtney Calise Õ07, Alison Crocker Õ06, Andrew Hunter Õ04 and Paul McDonald Õ06 were named first team All-East.

MEN'S SOCCER (Jeff Cook, Head Coach - 22-23-6, 3 yrs) 6-9-2, 1-6 Ivy (8th)

Rob Daly Õ04 earned a spot on the All-Ivy first team after leading the 2003 squad in scoring with 10 goals and 20 points. He finished second in the Ivy League in points and tied for the League lead in goals. The team opened the season with a six-game unbeaten streak (4-0-2) before suffering injuries to key players.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (Ben Landis, Head Coach - 9-6-2, 1 yr) 9-6-2, 6-0-1 Ivy (1st)

The team won its fourth Ivy title in the past six seasons and advanced to the NCAA tournament for sixth straight year before losing to Florida State in the first round. Claire DeWalt Õ05, Lea Kiefer Õ04 and Anne Marbarger Õ05 all earned first team All-Ivy recognition.

SOFTBALL (Jen Goodwin, Interim Head Coach - 17-20, 1 yr) 17-20, 5-9 Ivy (7th)

Danica Giugliano Õ04 pitched the fourth no-hitter in Dartmouth history when she shut down Columbia on April 17. Jodee Thompson Õ05 and Jess Reiten Õ06 earned first team All-Ivy honors.

MEN'S SQUASH (John Power, Head Coach - 58-28, 6 yrs) 12-4, 3-3 Ivy (4th)

Ryan Donegan Õ05 was a first team All-Ivy and first team All-America selection. The team finished fifth at the CSA team championship.

WOMEN'S SQUASH (John Power, Head Coach - 53-24, 6 yrs) 8-5, 2-4 Ivy (6th)

Julia Drury Õ06 earned second team All-America recognition. The squad finished sixth at the Howe Cup.

MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING (Jim Wilson, Head Coach - 24-91-1, 10 yrs) 6-6, 3-6 EISL (6th)

Tom Sanford Õ04 set three school records at the EISL championship and was an Academic All-Ivy pick. As a team, the Big Green set nine school records during the event.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING (Joann Brislin, Head Coach - 26-62, 7 yrs) 3-8, 1-6 Ivy (7th)

Lauren Gilhooly Õ04 was named the teamÕs outstanding swimmer and earned Academic All-Ivy honors. The team set two school records at the Ivy League championship and divers Kate Brodie Õ06 and Erin Bingham Õ05 competed at the NCAA Zone A diving championship.

MEN'S TENNIS (Chuck Kinyon, Head Coach - 238-181-1, 21 yrs) 9-14, 1-6 Ivy (7th)

David Webb Õ05 was a second team All-Ivy pick in singles and an Academic All-Ivy selection.

WOMEN'S TENNIS (Bob Dallis, 21-22 - 2 yrs) 13-8, 2-5 Ivy (5th)

The team earned its first national ranking since 2002 and was ranked as high as No. 68 in the country. The squad won 13 of its first 16 matches, including an upset of No. 66 Florida Atlantic. Jayme Ahmed Õ05 was named first team All-Ivy in singles.

MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD (Track - Barry Harwick '77, 12 yrs; Field - Carl Wallin, 35 yrs) Heps: 8th (Indoor), 4th (Outdoor)

Mustafa Adbur-Rahim Õ04 was voted the Outstanding Performer at the Indoor Heps for the second year in a row. During the outdoor season, he shattered his own school record in the decathlon and qualified for the NCAA championships and the Olympic trials. His score ranks him third nationally in the decathlon.

WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD (Sandra Ford-Centonze, 12 yrs; Field - Carl Wallin, 35 yrs) Heps: 6th (Indoor), 7th (Outdoor)

At the Indoor Heps, Kelsey Wiegmann Õ06 tied for second in the high jump, while Jamila Smith Õ06 finished second in the shot. Wiegmann won the heptathlon at the Outdoor Heps.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL (Ann Marie Larese, Head Coach - 129-142, 10 yrs) 9-16, 3-11 Ivy (6th)

Sarah Nadler Õ06 was an honorable mention All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy selection. The team opened the season with six victories in its first seven matches.

2003-04 Club Sports Highlights

Cycling

The team won the Division II national championship for the third straight year. Mike Barton finished first in road race, first in criterium and won the omnium title.

Fencing

Meredith Wilson Õ07 earned second team All-USACFC honors.

Figure Skating

Won the national championship. Taylor Grant Õ06 won the senior short program.

Men's Rugby

Went 4-3 in league play and did not qualify for Northeasterns.

Women's Rugby

Went 5-0 in League Play and won the NERFU (New England Rugby Football Union) championship.

Women's Ultimate Frisbee

Finished third in the Northeast and qualified for the Sweet 16/ National Championship, where they finished in a tie for ninth place.

Women's Water Polo

The team defeated Utah in the national semifinals before falling to Cal Poly in the championship game. Samantha Klau Õ05, Sara Rosa Õ07, and Gillian Morshedi Õ04 were all named to the All-Tournament team and Jim Wilson was named the Coach of the Year.
